“Those who practice
improvisation are able to be fully present and listen, think more creatively and make others look good.”

Forbes Magazine

“Improv taught me to take risks, and don’t be afraid to fail. Success is not a straight line, and the more you fail, the better you get.”

Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube

How it Works

First: Setting the Stage for Fun
The first element of Hideout training is dedicated to creating a playful learning environment, diffusing any anxiety, skepticism, or nervousness that folks bring into a training setting.

Next: Taking Managed Risks
Once everyone is laughing and enjoying each other, we nudge participants out of their comfort zone, giving them hands-on opportunities to step into the unknown and try on the slightly uncomfortable. Along the way we work through all the weird feelings people have around “failure” and celebrate their successes.

Finally: Getting to “Yes And”
We us all this connection and vulnerability to
collaborate with greater success! When our default
response is to say YES to our partner’s ideas AND add our enthusiasm to build the momentum,
the results are incredibly effective and create
good feelings all around!

Why it Works

There are core SKILLS from improvisational theater,
surprisingly simple and shockingly effective
“meta-tools” that YOU can use in any collaborative, high-performing work environment to:

• Have fun (and make sure everyone else is
having fun as well)
• Get loose (and support healthy risk-taking)
• Say “Yes And” (to generate connection,
trust, and results)

And we do it all through low-pressure games and playful interactions that give everyone a chance to not just absorb these transformational ideas
but really experience them in action.

Team Building with Improv

Looking for a fun, unforgettable way to bring your team together? Our improv-based workshops spark laughter, connection, and real-world skills through play.

Since 1999, The Hideout Theatre has helped teams bond, communicate, and embrace risk—using the same exercises that train improv comedians to collaborate and create magic from nothing.

Your team will walk away with:
• Strategies for more fun and engagement
• Stronger communication skills
• A culture of “Yes, And” and positivity
• Playful feedback and communication skills

We can also tailor workshops to focus on presentation skills, leadership, or tough conversations. Let us know your goals, and we’ll craft a session your team won’t forget!

What about the introverts?

We specialize in making this potentially stressful style of training accessible to EVERYONE, especially the introverts of the world.

At every step of the process we’re reading the room and striking a balance of easy, playful engagement and rewarding challenge. Before they know it even the most reserved participants are having way more fun than they expected and opting in to getting out of their comfort zone with enthusiasm.

Improv for Educators

At The Hideout, we are passionate about supporting teachers—the real-life superheroes of the classroom! Our workshops go beyond typical team-building or PD. They’re a chance to learn by doing, experience our playful approach, and walk away with fresh tools to engage students.

We don’t just play games—we break them down so you see why they work and how to adapt them for your classroom. You’ll strengthen connections with fellow educators while gaining fun, effective strategies to bring learning to life.

Bonus: We offer discounts for educators and schools!

Custom Improv Shows

For over 20 years, The Hideout Theatre has delivered high-quality, engaging improv performances that leave audiences laughing and captivated. Our shows blend fast-paced, game-based improv (similar to Whose Line Is It Anyway?) with rich, narrative-driven storytelling that draws in the audience with a full range of emotion.

Since every show is completely improvised, we can customize the experience to fit your company’s event and culture—whether that means incorporating key themes, highlighting team members, or reinforcing company values in a fun, unexpected way.

We also tailor the tone to your audience, offering family-friendly performances or more sophisticated humor depending on your preferences. Whatever the setting, we create an inclusive, high-energy experience that brings people together.
